Privacy Policy

We collect information you provide directly when creating an account or using our services:

We use the information we collect only for the following purposes:

• Matching: Homeowner job details (trade type, postal code) are used by our AI matching system to find the best available verified contractor.
• Verification: Contractor credential information is used to verify licences, WSIB standing, and insurance with Ontario regulatory bodies (ESA, TSSA, OCOT, WSIB).
• Communications: We send transactional emails including job lead notifications, match confirmations, application status updates, and platform announcements. You cannot opt out of transactional emails while your account is active.
• Payments: Billing information is processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details on our servers.
• Safety and compliance: We may use data to investigate disputes, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.

We share limited data only with the service providers necessary to operate the platform:

• Clerk (authentication) — manages user accounts, sign-in sessions, and role assignments. Clerk stores your email address, name, and session tokens. See Clerk’s Privacy Policy.
• Stripe (payments) — processes contractor subscription payments and platform fee collections. Stripe stores payment card details under their own PCI-DSS compliant systems. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
• Resend (transactional email) — sends notification and confirmation emails on our behalf. Resend processes recipient email addresses and message content. See Resend’s Privacy Policy.
• Railway(database hosting) — our PostgreSQL database is hosted on Railway’s infrastructure in North America. Railway does not access your data for their own purposes.

When a homeowner is matched with a contractor, the homeowner’s full address and phone number are shared with that contractor only — and only after the contractor accepts the job. Prior to acceptance, only the postal code is visible.

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal details within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records for legal or regulatory compliance.

Job and review records may be retained in anonymised or aggregated form for platform improvement purposes after account deletion.

Contractor credential information may be retained for up to 7 years after account closure to comply with Ontario record-keeping obligations.

Under applicable Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA and Ontario’s privacy legislation), you have the right to:

• Request access to the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
• Request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements)
• Withdraw consent to non-essential data processing

We use cookies and similar technologies only to maintain your signed-in session (via Clerk). We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, or behavioural analytics.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes by email. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
